The diary, 5 May 1915-21 July 1916, describes his experiences at sea on board the Euripides; in Egypt; on the voyage to Gallipoli on the Southland on 2 Sept. 1915 during which it was torpedoed; and at Gallipoli and the Western Front. He was at Gallipoli from 6 Sept. until 18 Dec. Also, letters to his family, 31 July and 5 Aug. 1916; notes by his sister Bessie about his subsequent history; an extract from a letter, 25 Sept. 1918, regarding his DSO investiture; and press clippings concerning him.
